Lift Operator

Overview: 

Lift operators assist in the loading, unloading, operation and maintenance of ski lifts at ski operations. They monitor the behaviour of users, ensure that skiers have purchased proper tickets and help to ensure the safety of the area. Work is seasonal, and the hours and length of the season are dependent on snow conditions. This may mean a different opportunity in summer, or possibly a chance to work on the ski hill’s summer crew.

Duties: 

maintain loading/unloading areas and surfaces operate lift load and unload lift enforce policies, regulations and legislation

Experience: 

A lift operator must have a professional attitude and must enjoy working with people. Knowledge of the ski area is necessary, as is the ability to load and unload the lift properly. An ability to remain calm in emergencies is necessary, as are strong communication, decision-making, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Education: 

A secondary school diploma is preferred. Knowledge of the Lift Operator National Occupational Guidelines is an asset. More on Training and Certification
