Step 3 - Set Priorities

The Employer of Choice Assessment will help you to set priority areas on the basis of each of the four human resource Factors: JOIN, STAY, PERFORM and ADAPT, and within the eight activity Elements: Strategic Leadership, Frontline Management, Workplace Culture, Work-Life Balance, Compensation and Benefits, Job/Work Design and Structure, Learning and Development, and Workplace Diversity.

Results from the employee and managers' questionnaires are compiled and compared to each other. By comparing what the employees think to what management thought they would think, you will be able to:

  • Identify areas of strength
  • Identify areas for improvement
  • Identify/prioritize two or threes areas that most in need of improvement

The company owner or management team will understand where the key challenges for the business currently lie: in getting people to:

JOIN their company

  • evidenced by vacant jobs, costly recruitment, low response rates to ads

STAY once they have joined

  • evidenced by high turnover

PERFORM at high levels

  • evidenced by customer satisfaction or complaints, repeat business, referral business and cost of service delivery

ADAPT effectively to change

  • evidenced by declining sales, profits or market share in the face of changing business conditions.
