Reaching Youth

Youth look to the Internet as a key source of job and career information, so ensure your website has a Jobs/Careers page. Also, use government job boards, sites such as Workopolis and Monster and sector-specific sites such as the Tourism Workweb. Classified advertising is another good way to reach Youth. To target job or career seekers specifically, consider:
Job Seekers
- High school and post-secondary job fairs
- High school Guidance Counsellors/Teachers
- School academic and career resource centre
Career Seekers
- Post-secondary institution career counselling services
- Job/Career Fairs
- Industry-specific (cruise lines, hotel chains)
Aboriginal Youth
- Studies have shown that aboriginal youth can be reached using the same communication channels as the broader youth employment market. Making a specific effort to build relationships with Aboriginal communities will build awareness of your employment needs and help to identify job seekers. You could attend or sponsor community events, or consider using local radio stations.
