Ride Operator
Ride operators are charged with the safe operation of rides at amusement parks, fairs, and festivals. As a ride operator, one must be constantly alert in order to monitor both the ride’s operation and patrons’ behaviours. Ride operators also maintain the upbeat, fun environment of the attraction, which adds to the enjoyment of participants.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections on ride
- Maintain a clean and safe space in and around ride
- Collect tickets and operate ride
- Ensure the safety and enjoyment of all ride passengers
- May need to supply on-board narration
Experience
A ride operator must have good communication skills and be tactful and diplomatic. It is also desirable for the operator to have mechanical ability, customer service experience, knowledge of general safety procedures, and knowledge of the attraction and local area.
Education
A secondary school diploma is preferred. First aid, CPR, and emergency response courses are recommended.
