Career Pathways with Martin Lacelle
Martin Lacelle is one of the valuable, behind-the-scenes employees who makes travel possible. As the Tourism Funding Liaison Officer at Ottawa Tourism, he focuses on helping businesses develop further, providing funding to hotels, restaurants, small businesses, farms, and other organizations that enhance destinations.
He’s learned an extremely valuable lesson in his years of working in the industry; you don’t need to have a background in tourism to thrive in tourism. Martin came from an arts and culture background, and he’s still been able to apply his education to his career. He loves the fact that tourism isn’t just one thing; it’s diversified, constantly evolving, and rich with opportunity no matter what your background is.
